LIMBO

Copenhagen-based independent game studio PLAYDEAD put it all on the line this year to release LIMBO, a bizarre 2D puzzle/platform game for XBOX Live that they created solely with investor money. The black-and-white side-scrolling game begins without instruction and provides no objective to players, challenging them to explore a desolate landscape and solve puzzles along the way. LIMBO is unlike anything that has ever come before it and its creators had no way of knowing how such a unique game would be received. It was a bold move that fortunately paid off. LIMBO smashed sales expectations and soared past the million unit mark earlier this year, with subsequent releases on several other platforms. Critics praised the game with over 90 industry awards and its triumph allowed PLAYDEAD to purchase itself back from investors, becoming an inspiration to independent game designers around the world.

LIMBO was recently released in the APPLE APP STORE for MACs and since I don't own any consoles, I'm pumped that I can finally give it a whirl. It's eery visuals and mysterious objectives are right up my alley and I think this is gonna make for an awesome late night adventure.
